Carolinas Center for Parkinson Disease and Movement Disorders is dedicated to helping patients with movement disorders maximize their independence and quality of life. Our Center offers a comprehensive, team-oriented approach to patient care that includes physicians, physical therapists, occupational therapists, speech therapists, a social worker, counseling for depression/anxiety, a dietitian and an exercise consultant.
Sanjay S. Iyer, MD, Director of Carolinas Center for Parkinson Disease and Movement Disorders, and Danielle E. Englert, MD, evaluate and treat patients with all movement disorders in a learning environment that promotes clinical and basic science research.

Carolinas Center for Parkinson Disease and Movement Disorders offers a range of services, from early diagnosis and treatment to more advanced therapeutic options such as Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS) therapy and botulinum toxin injections for movement disorders and pain. Deep Brain Stimulation therapy is a surgical option primarily for the treatment of Parkinson Disease, essential tremor,and dystonia.
The Deep Brain Stimulation team consists of multiple dedicated members. Dr. Englert and Dr. Iyer work closely with a neurosurgeon, Martin Henegar, MD, as well as neuropsychologists, physical therapists, speech therapists, occupational therapists and social workers. Our goal is to implement the latest technology to ensure our patients the best comprehensive care possible.
